What to expect at your initial appointment

Prior to your appointment, Dr Gogos and his team will make sure they have access to your imaging and as much other information as possible -  such as blood test or other specialist opinions.  It will be helpful if you could complete the patient registration form online. 

The consultation will focus on understanding your condition and discussing the best treatment approach for your individual situation. Dr Gogos will review your medical history, current symptoms and perform a focused neurological examination.  

Following this,  Dr Gogos will explain the imaging finding and diagnosis in clear, understandable terms and discuss next steps, which may including further investigation and surgical and non-surgical treatments.

He takes time to answer your questions, explain the risks and benefits of different approaches, and help you make an informed decision about your care. For patients requiring surgery, the consultation will cover what the procedure involves, expected recovery, and next steps in scheduling and preparation.

What should I bring to my initial appointment? 

In most cases we will already have your referral letter and imaging.  It is useful to bring a list of questions you have to make sure nothing is missed.  For complex or difficult conditions, it can be useful to bring a family member or friend.
